LSDF proudly announces its 07-02 grant competition, "Innovative Programs to Advance Health Research," awardees. The health research initiatives focus on the areas of medical genetics, autoimmunity, cancer clinical trials, proteomics-based diagnostics and early learning and brain development. Funding for these grant programs comes from Washington's allocation of bonus payments under the Master Tobacco Settlement, revenues arising from multi-state litigation with tobacco product manufacturers. This LSDF group of awardees is the first to be funded through this mechanism.
