LSDF 08-01: Innovative research projects to improve health and health care

This competition is designed to encourage sharply focused research projects with potential impacts on health and the Washington economy. $6-$8 million will be awarded. There is no fixed cap on award amount or grant duration.
- Eligibility: Applicants must be Washington non-profit.organizations, singly or in collaboration either with other nonprofits or with for-profit companies.
- Deadlines (all by electronic submission): Letters of intent are due by February 20, 2008; proposals are due by April 16, 2008.
- Expert Review and Evaluation: Proposals will be reviewed by panels of experts convened by the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Proposals will be evaluated according to scientific, technical, and.organizational merit, benefits to health and health care, and future economic outcomes. All award proposals will be expected to contribute to the achievement of LSDF's primary strategic goals - promoting life sciences competitiveness, improving health and health care for Washington's citizens, and fostering economic growth.
- Selection: The LSDF Board of Trustees will make the final selection of grantees. Awards will be announced by early August, 2008.
